What is it?

Teeth Whitening is the process of improving the appearance of your teeth by addressing discolouration. Not all Teeth Whitening in Perth is created equal. For a safe, professional service with stellar results, make sure you visit one of our three Advanced Dental Spa locations. We use the highest grade whitening products for the best results that won’t harm your smile. Teeth Whitening can be an amazing stand-alone treatment but it can also provide the perfect base prior to your smile makeover. If you’ve considered having a smile makeover or other cosmetic dentistry then a Teeth Whitening procedure could be recommended prior to your course of treatments.

Only qualified professionals who have years of experience with dentistry know the correct techniques and products to use for a safe whitening experience. The enamel that protects your teeth is vital to oral health and therefore products that damage this enamel can have devastating effects on the integrity of your teeth. By choosing to have your teeth whitened by Advanced Dental Spa you are ensuring a healthy experience which is not only beneficial for your smile’s appearance but it’s health as well.

What's involved?

Perth teeth whitening can be done in one of two ways, in office or at home. During the in chair treatment, the product is applied to the teeth and put under a light to enhance the process. Immediate results are produced from this treatment. At home whitening offers treatment in the comfort of your home, but will take two weeks to see desired results.

How does it feel?

Teeth whitening is a non-invasive treatment that shouldn’t cause any pain for the patient. While you may feel discomfort during the treatment this greatly varies from person to person and may even come down to your mouth just feeling uncomfortable from the protective barriers.

Scared of the dentist?

Although Teeth Whitening is non-invasive and a pleasant experience for most patients, if you are receiving it as part of further dental work you may experience feelings of anxiety. Being scared of the dentist is a common fear among both young and old and nothing to be ashamed about. Thankfully there are talented dentists such as the ones at our clinics who are trained in methods that will decrease your anxiety associated with dentists and allow you to get the treatment you need.

One of the main techniques we use to overcome your fears is Sedation Dentistry. Sedation Dentistry is the process of performing dental treatments while the patient is under conscious (or twilight) sedation. This process can be beneficial in many circumstances including when complex extensive dentistry needs to be undertaken and when the patient faces anxiety about dental work in general. If you’ve experienced issues with a fear of needles, a low pain threshold, or strong gag reflex when visiting the dentist, Sedation Dentistry could be the solution. Teeth Whitening Perth FAQ

Will Teeth Whitening Work?
For most patients, teeth whitening will work, and the results will be noticeable. The chemicals used in teeth whitening only change the colour of enamel on your teeth, but does not change the colour of restorations.

Teeth whitening will work best on yellow coloured teeth, but not as well on grey teeth. It will also not work on intrinsically strained teeth.

What Are The Side Effects Of Whitening?
It is normal for your teeth to be a bit sensitive up to around 24 hours after the procedure, but other than that there are no other side effects

How Long Does Teeth Whitening Last & How Often Do You Need Treatments?
The chemical change to your from teeth whitening is permanent, although discolouring from your diet will cause re-staining of your teeth over time. Once you have had teeth whitening treatment your teeth will remain whiter than their original colour before the teeth whitening process.

How Does The Procedure Work?
There are two parts to the teeth whitening procedure:

  1. The ‘Zoom’ in-chair element, which includes:
    • Isolation of the teeth and protection of soft tissue
    • Bleach is applied
    • Up to Four 15 minute cycles of light are used to activate the bleach – A new layer of bleach is applied before every cycle
  2. The ‘done at home’ element
    • You will receive a kit containing custom-made trays of bleach for you to apply to your teeth for one hour a day for two weeks. You will be given full, easy to understand instructions on what to do from or teeth whitening specialist.

Will Teeth Whitening Damage My Teeth And Health?
No, teeth whitening will not cause damage to your teeth or your health. However, teeth that have had very deep fillings close to the nerve may respond more unfavourably to the treatment. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to us about them.

What Chemicals Are Used?
The ‘Zoom’ in-chair treatment contains 25% hydrogen peroxide, while the ‘at home’ treatment contains 6% hydrogen peroxide.

How Do You Maintain Keeping Your Teeth White?
The simplest way to keep your teeth looking whiter after you have had the teeth whitening procedure is to top up with one of our ‘at home’ teeth whitening kits.

What Are The Benefits Of Teeth Whitening?
Obviously having whiter teeth is a major benefit, and from that flows you having more confidence and not being embarrassed to smile – or as we term it, having a more confident smile.

What’s The Difference Between Take Home Kits And Professional Treatment?
The professional in-chair treatment that you will receive uses a combination of light and hydrogen peroxide to whiten your teeth, and the treatment is provided by a trained, experienced teeth whitening specialist, whereas the ‘at home’ treatment is applied by you, and the application uses a lower dose of hydrogen peroxide.

Are Teeth Whitening Results Guaranteed?
Teeth being whiter than their original shade is guaranteed. How many shades whiter though will differ from patient to patient due to lifestyle and dietary differences.
